2015

2015  MERRY  CHRISTMAS  FROM  PETERBOROUGH  2015

The hardest part of any chore
Is, simply put, beginning!
Barb’s happy when I thus begin!
My cerebrum is now spinning!

As words turn into sentence,
And stories start to form,
The rhyming kind of words you’ll find!
It has become my norm!

Could this be called a saga?
These narratives of mine…
Our year’s events… I’ve done this since
Our youngest girl was nine!

I typically reward myself,
Perhaps you may recall!
So, when I’m done, I pledge to run
And grab some alcohol!

Yes, we’ve all had one year pass.
“Flew by” as some might say.
Time’s after us; we age, and thus
A few more hairs are grey!

Now, to get some details out
Of things we’ve done and seen!
We, without doubt, were pleased throughout
Two thousand and fifteen!

Our children, I shall feature first;
It just seems right, somehow!
In each we see maturity…
They live their own lives now.

James and Jocelyne have news.
Great news… (so, drum roll, please)…
A girl, we see, child number three,
They’ve named her Éloïse!

Barb tries to visit often, now
She thinks it’s only fitting!
A trip is planned! She’ll lend a hand
And offer babysitting!

At times, Barb does endeavor
To multitask her trips;
James’ students, she, will test to see
Who has the best “flute lips”!

A “Mat. Leave” for the momma:
Still teaching, is the dad!
His Band earns gold! We’re often told
Of the accolades they’ve had!

We’re glad to say they love their house!
And now it’s much improved…
Some major chores with walls and floors,
And broken things removed.

This homestead, near Orillia;
Will suit the family well!
The kids can bloom with elbow-room
Especially, mademoiselle!

I think I’ll skip to Clara now!
By now, most people know…
A “matrimony ceremony”
Was the year’s plateau!

Not the sort of vow exchange
We’re accustomed to!
Yet every part spoke to the heart;
And every word rang true!

When two women give their pledge,
So open and sincerely,
Who are we, to disagree?
Or Judge? We Love them dearly!

Inclusion and acceptance!
These need priority…
And Erin Ladd has, somehow, had
A hand in teaching me!

Teaching music for a living
Clara goes full blast!
She plays and sings; it always brings
Sheer joy! Unsurpassed!

She’s down to earth, she’s clever!
That said…she’s just like me!
But likely glad, that unlike dad,
She’s cute and whisker-free!

Perhaps I should remind you now,
My hope is “keep it light”
And simply use this bit of news
To whet your appetite!

Our daughter Angie moved again,
But in Toronto still.
To find and keep a place that’s cheap,
It takes a certain skill!

She found a place, where we’ve been told,
Musicians take priority!
She said with glee “that sounds like me”…
She said it with authority!

Yes, music is her life and joy!
She mainly teaches voice.
To weekly gig or odd shin-dig,
She zooms… she’s made that choice.

Her band, the Rucksack Willies,
Gives cause to keep composing!
With note & word, hers thoughts get stirred!
The gift is worth exposing!

She also shares lead vocals
With the “Double Cuts” swing band.
They’ve come down to our hometown;
Some Ceilidhs had been planned!

If room permits, below I’ll add
Some Links of hers and mine.

Katherine, our oldest girl
Is teaching school once more!
This year, she has a Grade 1 class:
The same school as before.

She had taken off one year…
The reason… giving birth!
Barb says to me “So, isn’t he…
The cutest boy on earth?”

William’s one year old now
And likes to practice walking!
“Papa” I’ve heard, the favorite word
He’ll use… when he starts talking!

Ryan had to change his job;
A momentary quirk!
His new regime is shipment schemes
Through Canada Post’s network!

They’ve left their Guelph apartment;
In Thornhill, they now dwell!
There’s good daycare for William there
And all are adjusting well!

To summarize important things
I may just form a list,
For everything the year did bring!
(A few things might get missed)!

Birthday ‘get togethers’
We always try to do!
Sometimes we bake a birthday cake
That’s ‘gluten-free’. It’s true!

Then there are anniversaries;
Yes, love is still alive!
And by the by, for Barb and I
This is year thirty-five!

Our summertime adventures
Would take the families east.
Some flew, some drove to Seeley’s Cove
For a week-long feast!

We took the pop up camper;
Our little house on wheels!
Along the way we camped one day,
We like how camping feels!

We brought Clara’s dog along,
Since our girls flew by plane;
So Phineas, drove down with us,
Through Vermont and Maine!

We’d fest with Helen and her Patrick,
They’ve turned the big ‘6’ ‘O’…
Such a Maritime “Merry time”;
A ‘cheeky rhyme’, yes, I know!

If I stop here it might seem strange
But space does not permit.
Think I’ll blog this Christmas log,
Where extra stuff will fit.

We’d love to get your emails,
Some letters or a call!
A hug and kiss are sent with this…
Merry Christmas to you all!
